Video production for brands

A story that moves forward with every shot.

We create audiovisual content to explain brands, present products and support campaigns or events. At Mariona Agency we connect concept, script, direction and post-production around a single communication goal. Format, length and language are defined by the audience and the context in which the piece will be seen.

A video needs an idea that organises its time

Attractive images, added together, don’t guarantee a story people can follow. A video decides what to show, when to show it and how image, voice, sound and text relate to each other. That sequence guides the viewer’s attention.

We work on the storyline before producing anything. We define what has to come across clearly and what material we need to tell it. Planning covers both a main piece and its possible versions, so the shoot and post-production serve the full set of agreed uses.

How we think about video production

Plenty of attractive images still don’t add up to a story.

We build the script and decide what is seen, when and why.

Every shot moves the story on and the message lands in full.

Animation: loose shots in no particular order are placed on an editing timeline with their script and sound; then the playhead runs along the sequence and the story moves forward shot by shot on the monitor.

Clear Flow and Human First

Clear Flow

A clear script organises the shoot and the edit: what needs filming, in what order the story is told and which versions are needed. That way every production day goes on what the piece actually needs.

Human First

We think about who will watch the piece and where: an event screen, a phone with the sound off, a website. We tell the story at their pace and on their terms, so it is understood the first time.

The stages of production

  1. Concept and script

We build the story and the audiovisual treatment. We define the role of images, on-camera contributions, voice-over and graphics when the project needs them.

  2. Pre-production and filming

We organise the needs for location, equipment, people and product. Filming follows a visual direction and a coverage plan adapted to the project’s resources and goals.

  3. Editing and finishing

We develop the rhythm of the piece and work on colour, sound and graphics according to the scope. The review looks at the story as a whole, as well as the quality of each shot.

  4. Versions and deliverables

We prepare the agreed formats, lengths and adaptations. A piece for an event, a website and a social network may need different openings, aspect ratios or on-screen text.

Made for where it will be seen

Sound can be central to a presentation and unavailable when a video first plays on social media. An event screen and a phone are read from very different distances. We take those conditions into account when writing and producing. Versions are planned with intent, rather than leaving the whole adaptation to a simple cut-down of the final edit.

How we bring the idea to the screen

  1. Understand

We review the message, audience, channels and available material.

  2. Clarify

We define the storyline, the format and the production needs.

  3. Design

We develop the script and the visual direction, and carry out the agreed production.

  4. Refine

We fine-tune the edit, sound, colour and how the content reads.

  5. Launch

We deliver the final versions and the specifications planned for their use.

Questions about video production

Can you edit footage we already have?

Yes. First we review its quality, coverage and usage rights to see what can be built from it. If the story needs material that is missing, we define how to fill the gaps.

Are music, voice-over and subtitles included?

It depends on the project. What is needed, and the terms of use, are agreed before production so they can be included in the budget and the schedule.

How long should the video be?

As long as the message and its viewing context require. We set a working length based on the script and the channel, and can plan versions with different levels of depth.
