Mariona Agency, the strategic and creative agency from Barcelona, designed the Tortilla Chips packaging for Leng-d’Or Food Service, Leng-d’Or’s line of professional snacks for the hospitality and restaurant trade: the 450 g bag and the twelve-bag display box, from the shelf analysis to the final print artwork.

The idea

The product at the centre. Everything else, in order.

A tortilla chip made to the classic recipe deserved a pack that needed no explaining. The metallised film forms the background and gives the bag its light; the black pattern frames it top and bottom, and the product takes centre stage. The condensed type carries the name, the Premium Quality seal crowns it and the Professional Snacks by Leng-d’Or band signs it off. On the back, the selling points, one at a time, to be read in seconds from the aisle.

From die-cut to shelf

One idea, from bag to box.

Twelve bags, one box, one shelf. The same idea at every scale.

The project

The challenge

Leng-d’Or has made snacks since 1964 and nixtamalised corn tortilla chips since 2010. For its professional line, the one that reaches bars, restaurants, caterers and cash & carry stores, it needed a pack worthy of the product: a bag in a professional format that would be recognisable on the shelf and say, plainly, why this tortilla chip is different.

The brief included the box: a piece that would carry the twelve bags to the point of sale and, once opened, put them in front of the buyer.

The approach

Before proposing anything, we studied the professional shelf: the bags of competitors and own-label brands in the cash & carry. The bag leaves the metallised film on show and frames it with two bands of a hand-drawn pattern, in black; in the centre, a tower of tortilla chips, the name “Original Tortilla Chips” in a condensed typeface, the Premium Quality seal and the Professional Snacks by Leng-d’Or signature.

The back sets out the selling points one by one: traditional recipe, one hundred per cent whole-kernel corn with no flour, gluten-free, sunflower oil only, suitable for vegetarian diets and a 180-day shelf life in a protective atmosphere, each with its own line-drawn icon, alongside the legal information in Spanish and Portuguese.

The display box takes the same system onto cardboard: a low front so the bags can be seen, corner posts with the selling points, Tortilla Chips at full height on the sides and the pattern on the base. It travels with twelve bags and, once opened, becomes a display.

The result

From the outset the aim was a distinctive design, unlike anything else on the professional shelf. The key decision was the silver bag: the metallic finish sets it apart from the bags around it and makes it recognisable from several metres away; up close, the product speaks for itself.

The bag and the box went to print at the end of 2025 and are now the face of the line on lengdorfoodservice.com. The Tortilla Chip Sal bag carries the “Sabor del Año 2026” (Taste of the Year 2026) badge. In 2026 we also produced the product photo shoot for the bag and the box.
